The Beaukiss Hood is beginner friendly, knit in garter stitch with slipped stitch edges. It’s knit flat with no shaping and later seamed for the back of the hood. Cast on provisionally with waste yarn and do a three needle bind off, or option - skip that step, cast on as you normally would, bind off and sew that additional seam!

It is not definitely known how the town of Beaukiss, Texas got its name, but the following story has been told and never positively denied.

A post office was established there in 1880 with S. M. Slaughter as Postmaster. He suggested several names to the postal authorities in Washington, but for one reason or another none was suitable. A young lady in the department had just announced her engagement to be married and her mind was filled with romance.
“Name it beau kiss”, she said, and Beaukiss it was named.
