Pattern Description
Linda taught herself how to knit from a book and decided to make a scarf with some bulky yarn her friend had given her. She had no idea about patterns or gauge (since then she has read our gauge page and is a master of gauge), so she kept casting on stitches for her scarf and continued to knit and knit. She came into our store, and with an embarrassed look, pulled her knitting out of her bag and said, “I was trying to make a scarf, but it seems a bit too wide and too short, and I am out of yarn.” We looked at it and then turned it horizontally. We told her if she bound off, she would actually have a fabulous scarf. This gave us the idea to knit a scarf the same way, but on purpose.
