Believe Socks
“Believe” was the Sock Knitters Anonymous January 2016 Mystery Sock (MOCK) The pattern was sent out as a series of four clues, one each week starting January 1st.
This is a top-down, stranded colorwork sock with a heel flap and gussets. It’s on the feminine side, but some men may wear it if worked in masculine colors.
This pattern is offered for free, but if you would like to buy me a cup of coffee, it would be greatly appreciated!
Three sizes: 66/74/82 sts
Needles: US sizes 1 & 1.5 (2.25 & 2.5 mm) (Or your typical sock needle size plus one size up for the colorwork sections.)
Notions: Removable/locking stitch markers (or you can use small pieces of yarn)
Three colors will be needed but note that only 2 are ever used at any time. The following is an estimate of yarn amounts for both socks plus what type of color is recommended:
MC: 60-80g (solid, semi-solid)
CC1: 25-45g (solid, semi-solid, tonal, perhaps variegated)
CC2: 8-15g (solid, semi-solid)
You want relatively strong contrast between all three, but especially between MC and CC1. The way the charts are done, it will be easiest to follow if your MC is dark, CC1 is light, and CC2 is mid-range or an accent color, but you could swap and have MC light and CC1 dark if you wish.
These could be worked 2AAT (two-at-a-time) but because of the use of three colors, it may get tricky juggling six balls of yarn at some points during the pattern.
