Bellefonte Cardigan
When I wake up in the morning, my greatest desires are, in order, 1) coffee, 2) to hug my cat, and 3) to wrap myself up in a snuggly sweater or blanket. I designed this open-front cardigan to satisfy need #3. It’s super cuddly, warm, and pretty, to boot! The middle of the body features an incredibly easy slip-stitch color pattern- you only knit with one color at a time! That morphs into a box check pattern that then morphs into double-seed stitch, which forms the bottom band. The box check and double-seed stitch are echoed on the long sleeves. Top-down construction means the cardigan is totally seamless with minimal finishing.
The colorwork section is an excellent opportunity to use up that skein of highly variegated yarn that you don’t know what to do with. Just make sure it contrasts well with your main color!
Because of the open fronts, you may be confused as to what size you should make. It may help to take your cross-back measurement (from underarm to underarm) and use that to determine your size.
Full bust sizes: 33.5(37, 40, 43, 46.5, 48, 51.25)
Corresponding cross-back measurements:16.75(18.5, 20, 21.5, 23.25, 24, 25.5)
