Bellingham Tank
From the front this tank appears to have a simple A-line shape, but in fact the flared “skirt” wraps around the sides and then flows into elongated wings that cross over the back, joining the front at the opposite shoulder. A linen blend yarn ensures that the skirt drapes gracefully. This tank can be worn on its own or over another layer; try wearing it backwards if you are feeling adventurous!
SKILL LEVEL
Intermediate: Skills include picking up stitches,
short rows, and three-needle bind-off. See
Techniques section beginning on page 146
for photo tutorials on picking up stitches and
working short rows.
Shown in Size S with +1 “/2.5 cm ease. Intended to fit with -2”/5 cm to +2”/5 cm ease at bust.
PATTERN NOTES
• Center piece is worked first
• Stitches are picked up along lower sides of
center piece for side pieces
• Center and sides are joined at the opposite
shoulders, causing the side pieces to overlap
• All edges are self-finished
CUSTOMIZING FIT
Because of the unusual construction, many
of the standard garment measurements are
approximate. Side pieces are constructed so
that they can be lengthened if necessary to
adjust the fit.
