Beloved Black Cardigan
A basic black cardigan that goes with almost everything is necessary in every closet. This sweater has saddle shoulders, uses short rows to shape the sleeve cap, and is knit from the top down. The cardigan falls to mid-thigh and has pockets sewn on the outside (because good sweaters need pockets); also, its button bands are button-less (because I never want to button longer sweaters anyway). The cardigan employs knit and purl stitches to create some surface definition (saddle shoulder pieces are knit on the right side, while the main body of the sweater is purled, and the sleeves have both knit and purl sections coming to a V with pockets to match.
