NOTES
The Bentley Shawl is knit from the top down, back and forth in rows with an all over mosaic stitch. Only one color is used per row, slipping stitches to create the pattern. This pattern is charted. Set up rows are written but knitting from charts is required for this pattern.
Gauge is not critical for this project; you can make it with any yarn you prefer. The motif shows best with a high contrast color pairing. Adjust the needle size to suit your yarn and work the Repeat Chart until you have reached desired size (or only have enough MC left to complete the 24-row repeat). Total yarn usage will depend on the yarn you use (fiber content, ply, etc.), your personal gauge, and the number of repeats worked. Please plan your yarn purchase accordingly.
The fringe is a knitted-on edging to bind off the body of the shawl. The fringe is created by dropping stitches and allowing them to unravel. The resulting loops are then knotted and cut with scissors. If you prefer a clean edge, skip this and bind off using a stretchy bind-off such as a sewn bind-off or substitute the edging of your choice.
