Crochet pattern for colourful winter hat and mittens for women, men or teens!
Use any chunky yarn for a quick gift – Scandi style inspired by the Bernie Sanders meme!
Easy-to-follow digital pdf download is easily printable and includes UK & US crochet terms.

KEY FEATURES:
• Unisex style is great for women, men or teens – make a matching set as a gift for a special family or couple on Valentine’s Day! Bulky yarn makes the set quick to hook up for a last-minute present!

• Chunky yarn and Fair Isle colourwork pattern creates a really cosy fabric – perfect for cold winter days in the snow! Fair Isle tutorial is provided in the pattern.

• Customise the yarn colours to suit you and any spare balls of yarn in your stash. Use up spare yarn for the pompom at the top of the hat!

• Simple colourwork pattern on each hat or glove is made by using easy-to-follow colour charts where one square represents one stitch. Guide to using colour charts is provided in the pattern.

• Clear instructions with plenty of photos and guides, so you know exactly what you need to do – perfect for happy crocheting!

• All the stitches are made in the round so there are less ends to weave in and only a very small amount of sewing up to finish the top of each mitt.

• Ribbing at the cuffs of the mittens and brim of the beanie is made using front and back post stitches – step-by-step walkthroughs are provided in the pattern.

• A4 digital pdf download pattern is available instantly, forever, and is easy to print. Pattern support is available from the designer if you need it – feel free to ask me questions!

• Hassle-free pattern is given in UK crochet terms first and then US crochet terms, so you only need to read the section that’s relevant to you.

MORE INFORMATION:
• Project uses chains, slip stitches, US single crochet/UK double crochet (colourwork, increases and decreases), US hdc/UK htr, front and back post stitches (US dc/UK tr).
• Finished mittens fit average woman or man’s hand. Women’s mittens measure 23cm/9in long and 22cm/8.5in palm circumference. Men’s mittens measure 28cm/11in long and 26cm/10.25in palm circumference. (Note: outer measurements are larger than inner measurements and fabric is approx 1cm thick)
• Finished hat fits average woman or man’s heads. Women’s hat measures 57cm/22.5in circumference and 21cm/8.25in high – made to fit head circumference of 55cm/21.5in. Man’s hat measures 60cm/23.5in circumference and 23cm/9in high – made to fit head circumference of 58cm/22.75in.
• For this project, I used Bernat Roving (80% acrylic, 20% wool; 100g/109m/119yds) – colours and yarn quantities required are detailed in the pattern for each project.
• You’ll also need a 6mm (US J/10) hook for the women’s set, a 6.5mm (US K/10.5) hook for the men’s set, a tapestry needle, and a stitch marker.

DESIGNER INSPIRATION:
Becky Skuse says: “Inspired by the Bernie Sanders mittens meme, my chunky gloves and hat will keep chilly hands cosy whatever the weather. The Scandi style is perfect for winter and the set is sized for women or men. The colourwork pattern is simple to create with just four colours and the chunky yarn means everything is quick to hook. The whole set makes a wonderful gift to warm someone’s heart as well as their hands!”
