Looking for a way to bring more handmade to your kitchen? Try this textured crochet dishcloth pattern – it’s the perfect mix of function and beauty.

I love dishcloths made from cotton yarn because they work so well in the kitchen. They are beautiful and really functional because you can use them, wash them and use them again!

The best yarn for crocheted dishcloths is cotton yarn. The yarn for this sample is Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton which is a DK weight yarn (#3).

You can use any yarn you like for this pattern, keeping in mind the ease of care for the yarn. Some people love acrylic yarns for dish and wash cloths, so experiment and see what you like best! It’s great for using up scrap yarn (which is what I did!).

Of course, if you want a serious dish scrubber, you can always use scrubby yarn for this project. It would add a lot of texture and work great!

This crochet pattern is fairly simple. The techniques you need to know are chaining, single crochet, double crochet, and the most difficult is front post treble crochet. You will also need to slip stitch for the border.
