Between Friends
A Note from Karida
The Between Friends hood was not designed during a global pandemic. Rather, it was the result of too much cold, too much wind, and too much hair. It was designed to keep your entire head and neck both cozy and cute.
Fast-forward a few years, and I was lucky enough to forge a friendship with the designer, Grace. Her wit and intellect proved to be just as sharp as her design skills. This pattern was one that she hadn’t gotten around to publishing, but I NEEDED it.
This single accessory would solve all of my big hair winter weather problems. We meant to release it in Fall 2019. Of course, life happened—for both of us—and the design languished. Until now. Grab two skeins of Studio Worsted, trusty Size 7 needles, and enough attention to notice a stitch marker, and you too can stay warm and look good doing it. After all, what’s a (warm accessory/stiff breeze/few rounds/cozy hood) between friends?
Details
The hood is worked in the round, beginning with the edging around the face. The number of stitches increases to create the back, which is joined using a three-needle bind off, and the neck edge.
