Bicraft Beanie
Crochet beanie with knitted edging.
All the advantages of a crochet hat without any of the disadvantages.
The main part of this hat is a crochet spiral so you can try it on as you go to make sure it fits. It also has interesting contrast stripes, worked in complete rounds, followed by a knitted ribbed edging to keep it snug.
The pattern is written for DK yarns but includes instructions for using other thicknesses of yarn. You might regard it as a tutorial for creating your own hat. It is broken down into five sections so you can see exactly where to make adjustments.
I used less than 100 metres (110 yards) of DK yarn in the main colour and small amounts of two contrasting colours. I chose a ‘spotty’ yarn because I like the way it creates different patterns on the knit and crochet sections.
The knitted edging requires a circular needle in (approximately) the same size as the crochet hook.
