State Fair of Texas 2019 Honorable Mention - Original Design, Any Knitting
Big Bend National Park in Texas, USA features a variety of colorful ecosystems and is bordered by the Rio Grande River. This shawl design reflects both the sprawl and variety of the park, and the river lapping at its banks.
This is a half circle shawl knit from the top down. The body is garter and eyelets, the edging is lace. The body instructions are written. The edging instructions are both written and charted.
Sample shown in Blue Mule Fiber XtraFine (75% Superwash Merino/ 25% Mulberry Silk; 437 yds / 100g skein); one skein each of Big Bend (body) and Judge Roy Bean (edging)
Skill level: advanced - the edging has pattern stitches on both right and wrong sides, and uses double yos, k2tog, k3tog, p3tog,ssk and ssp. The body increases are worked using yos that are twisted on the following row (fully explained in the pattern)
