This maxi cowl is especially suitable for crocheters who are eager to learn something new. In fact, attached to this pattern you can find two instruction sheets that illustrate step-by-step and with pictures the chainless starting and the front post treble crochet (AmE: Front post double crochet). A technique and a stitch not very commonly used but certainly very interesting!

Materials:

• 5 mm crochet hook
• LW125 by Borgo de’ Pazzi (300 g, 100% lambswool, shown in colour 19)
• Tapestry needle

Abbreviations (there are two version: US and UK terms):

• ch: chain
• st: stitch(es)
• ss: slip stitch
• sc: single crochet
• dc: double crochet)
• fpdc: front post double crochet (see attached instructions sheet for a step-by-step explanation of this stitch)

Gauge:
10 cm square worked in rib stitch: 12 st (4 modules) by 10 rows.
For this project gauge is not essential. Take care to work the st loosely enough so that the gaps created by the sequencing of dc and ch between the fptr are visible. If your stitches are too tight, use a bigger size hook.

Measurements and components:
The maxi cowl is worked in the round, every round is closed with a slip stitch. The starting row does not include the usual foundation chaining, I used the double crochet starting method instead (find attached step-by-step instructions). The cowl is one size and measures 23 cm (height) by about 130 cm (circumference). To obtain a shorter or classic cowl start with a smaller number of st (using a multiple of the rib module).

Questo maxi cowl è adatto anche per i neofiti dell’uncinetto che hanno voglia di scoprire qualcosa di nuovo. Infatti, in allegato al modello, ci sono due schede che illustrano con foto passo passo l’avvio senza catenelle e la maglia alta in rilievo. Una tecnica e un punto di uso poco frequente, ma molto utili e interessanti!

Occorrente:

• Uncinetto da 5 mm

• Ago da lana

Abbreviazioni:

• cat: catenella
• mbss: maglia bassissima
• mb: maglia bassa
• ma: maglia alta
• maRIL: maglia alta in rilievo anteriore (con scheda passo passo)

Campione:
Un quadrato di 10 cm di lato lavorato con il punto a coste:
12 maglie (4 moduli) per 10 righe.
Per questo progetto non è necessario che il campione corrisponda perfettamente. È necessario assicurarsi che il punto sia realizzato morbidamente e che gli spazi creati dalla sequenza di mb e cat tra le maRIL siano evidenti. Se il punto risultasse troppo compatto e rigido utilizzare un uncinetto più grande.

Taglia e costruzione:
Il maxi-scaldacollo è lavorato in tondo e ogni giro è chiuso con una maglia bassissima. Si inizia senza catenelle, con l’avvio a maglia alta (illustrato passo passo nella scheda allegata). La taglia è unica e misura 23 cm di altezza per circa 130 cm di circonferenza. Per realizzare una versione più corta o uno scaldacollo classico basterà avviare un numero inferiore di maglie alte (multiplo del modulo del punto a coste).
