I guess it doesn’t seem like summer to me unless I am working on a stranded design with lace weight yarn and Size 0 needles. One of my first designs was a Norwegian-style sweater with birds at the sides. During the winter I started experimenting with a design incorporating the birds and hearts. The design is so complex that it can be hard to see the birds, but I decided that mimicked real life. It can be hard to spot birds when they are hiding in trees.

This tunic features slits at the sides and a border picked up along the selvedges once the front and back are completed. You will note that there isn’t a big variation in the sizes. Each motif is 3” wide, so there is a 6” difference in each size. If you want a size in between those stated in the pattern, you can always omit the borders at the side. This would give you garments with a chest circumference of 24 (30, 36, 42, 48)”.

The garment is worked flat, but you could always work it in the round with steeks. I have added three stitches at each side. Two are for the seam allowance and one is added to give the border band a cleaner look.
