Two years ago I spent a wonderful autumn holiday in the woods of Birnam (Scotland). The vivid yellow of this yarn brought back a whole load of exciting and colourful memories connected with that holiday. I chose stitch patterns that resemble a thicket of empty branches, with some autumn coloured leaves still hanging in there – just the way I remember the autumn woods!

This design comes in two versions (gloves or fingerless mittens) and features leaf, cable and slip stitch patterns. It has an asymmetrical thumb gusset, which allows the stitch pattern to stretch over the whole back of the hand without interruption. On the palm side the slipped stitches are smaller, and the fingers have no slipped stitches on their inside at all. This way there will be no risk of long slipped stitches catching on anything you handle whilst wearing the gloves.

The sizes are Women’s S/M and Women’s M/L with a best fit for 18.5cm (7¼”) or 19.5cm (7⅝”) above thumb on dominant hand respectively.

For the smaller size fingerless version you would need only a small amount of the second skein of Regia yarn. If you have a yarn with a longer yardage and/or your hands are not very long, you might be able to do the pair with one skein.
