A project to use up leftover bits of all different ply yarn. Separate your yarns into two colour sets. With the sample I split it roughly into greens/yellows (colour set one) and blues/purples (colour set two).

The “suggested yarn” listed were just some of what was used in the sample that is pictured (I’m afraid can’t remember them all and have since lost the ball bands :-O ).

This pattern was designed to made up from whatever scraps you have on hand. What I had knocking about ranged from lace/2ply - right up to a worsted/10ply.

Finished size: 240 cm long and 40cm at the widest point (approx.) after blocking.

Gauge: 12 stitches x 37 rows (18.5 ridges) to 10 cm over washed and blocked garter stitch with 5.00 mm needles.

You will need
Required:

  • 1 x 5.00 mm 80 cm circular needle
  • Left over yarn (the sample shawl is made up of 300 g of yarn ranging from 2 ply and the 4 ply’s held double through to 5/6 ply, 8 ply and 10 ply held single)
  • 1 x big eyed needle for weaving ends

Recommended:

  • Blocking wires and pins
