Björt
Join the Björt KAL!
Cast on will be November 1st, to give everyone time to gather their yarn and supplies. More details soon in my Ravelry group here.
One pattern, two applications:
Björt is a top down, mid thigh length, round yoke sweater/coat that can be worked in 2 different yarn weights (but at the same stitch gauge!) for a completely different effect!
Knit it up in Léttlopi for a deliciously lightweight yet warm layering piece, perfect to wear over a shirt, as a lightweight layer to take the chill off a gray winter day at the office, or a fall day stroll in the woods.
For a winter worthy coat, work the pattern in the heavier (bulky weight) Álafoss Lopi.
You have to swatch! The gauge required (14 sts over 4”) is normally a gauge you get with bulky yarn (like the Alafoss Lopi), and when you use the Lettlopi (a aran weight yarn) at that gauge, some of my test knitters have used vastly different needle sizes to get there!
Either way, this lopapeysa is designed and sized to be roomy and comfy, perfect to wear over a button down shirt or light sweater.
Worked in one piece from the top down, the bottom edge is worked in a subtle ribbing in the main color, to visually lengthen the silhouette and draw the eye up towards the face and the colorwork yoke.
Björt means bright in Icelandic and to knit and wear this is pure happiness! I have pretty much been living in the yellow version all pf last winter, and the warmer raspberry colored one is waiting for some serious outdoor use this year!
Steeking and finishing instructions included!
