A baby to early teen sized knitting pattern to make a beautiful ribbed waistcoat with a cute button placket. The ribbing makes it very stretchy and together with the long design it grows with the child. The long design also ensures that there won’t be a gap between the trousers and the waistcoat. The instructions are easy to follow and it knits up rather quickly.

Yarn: Worsted weight yarn, I used ilo yarn, Alpaca 3/6 (200 meter/100 gram, 100% superfine alpaca) and Sandnes garn, Soft Alpakka (100 meter/50 gram, 80% alpaca, 20% acrylic).

Yardage: (120, 140, 170, 190, 230, 260, 300, 330, 370, 410, 460) meter

Gauge: 19 stitches/10 cm and 25 rows/10 cm in ribbing on washed fabric.

Needles: 4.5 mm or size that gives you the gauge called for on washed fabric.

Sizes: (56, 65, 74, 83, 92, 112, 122, 131, 140, 149, 158) cm, the size refers to the child’s maximum height and are made to fit chest circumference (40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 72, 76, 80) cm and an approximate age of (newborn, 4m, 9m, 1y, 2y, 4y, 6y, 8y, 10y, 11y, 13y).

Ease: This pattern has 5% positive ease incorporated in the pattern, but the fabric is very stretchy and the design grows with the child. In the beginning it will be a loose long waistcoat and in the end a more fitted and normal length waistcoat.
