This easy-to-hook blanket inspired by a 1914 bedspread is a welcome gift to bless a mother and baby with. Vintage filet style with a modern, timeless finish.

Size: about 36 inches square (91 cm square)

Skill level: Easy. Requires chain and double crochet stitches in US terms.

Yarn: Fine, sport weight, 5-ply, or baby yarn (fine, category 2).

You will need about 1,096 yards (1,000 meters) of yarn.

The sample blanket used 8 balls of Schachenmayr Catania yarn in Silver (color 172, Silber).

Any yarn will work for this blanket. You can use a thicker yarn and a larger hook if you like. If you use a thicker yarn, your blanket will be larger and you may need more yards of yarn than listed here. Use the hook size recommended on the yarn label.
