Block Stitch Baby Blanket or Washcloth
For a free download of this pattern, go to our website here .
Cuddly and cherished.
A quick, relaxing project for beginner and expert alike, this blanket has a repeating rhythm of stitches in the center surrounded by a simple seed stitch (you’ll have the pattern memorized in short order).
You’ll see instructions for two sizes. The baby blanket is just right for crib, car seat and stroller. Knit it larger, and you’ll have the perfect throw for picnics and beach days. Or downsize for clever washcloth that makes a lovely hostess gift. a beachy throw or picnic blanket.
Either way, it handles the washer and dryer happily.
(For bunny shown in photo, see our free pattern, Baby Bunny and Bunting. What a great baby gift - blankie and bunny together!)
But why do we really knit blankets? Well, they keep our babies warm and safe. Soon enough, the blankets become super hero capes. Then a protective play-fort roof. Then shared with family in the TV room. And maybe, just maybe, one will end up tucked into a pillowcase as your “baby” heads off to college. Time well spent.
