Blooming Love Cacti
A cute, free little pattern embracing love and new growth. Blooming Love Cacti is my “thank you” for your support to date.
Difficulty: Easy, US terminology
You will need:
2.75mm hook/C-2 (US)
8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted > less than 50g in each colour
BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Polyester toy stuffing
A pair of 7mm safety eyes
Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My cacti is approx. 11cm (4 1/3 inches) tall.
I’ve used the following yarns:
o GREEN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 425 Pistachio Green
o LIME = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 429 Lime Green
o PINK = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 454 Blush Pink
o PURPLE = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 447 Dusty Lilac
o SAND = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 408 Vanilla Cream
I have used safety eyes for my main cactus and embroidered the smaller eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
