These knee socks began with the stitch pattern. (Most of my designs begin with a stitch pattern that I fall in love with!) I knew I wanted to hide the calf increases in the reverse stockinette background stitches, so they are sprinkled throughout to accommodate the need to widen the calf. The orientation of the stitch pattern meant that the socks needed to be constructed from the toe up, which is much better for testing the fit of knee socks anyway! The stretchiness of the lace pattern allows for a narrower ankle after the heel is complete, and added ribbing to the bottom of the foot also aids in keeping the foot snug while being able to fit a wider range of foot circumferences. The wide, fold-over ribbing at the cuff helps these socks to stay up, but add in the optional elastic sewing thread for an even more secure top to these socks. The wool and yak yarn will keep your feet and legs nice and cozy!
