If you are using the written instructions you might need some clarification when you start repeating rows 7-12.
From that point on you will be increasing 1 stitch on each RS row with a kfb then k to last 16 sts and that’s where the purl st should be made. It is the first st of the German Herringbone pattern.

Also, row six should start with a K2 not a K1!

True confession: I often find it hard to start my daily chores before I take time to knit a row. For this particular shawl, one morning after I had finished breakfast but before I cleaned up the dishes I picked up this shawl and knit a row (ok, ok, maybe it was more like 8 but who’s counting?) When I set the project down and picked up the dishes I couldn’t help but notice how the shawl matched the “residue” in the bowl. From that point on I thought of this as my Blueberry Oatmeal Shawl (despite the fact that I had already named the file notes: German Herringbone Stitch since that’s the stitch pattern it uses.) So much so that on two occasions when I couldn’t find the file to update my notes because I was looking for the wrong file name I decided it was time to make a change. That’s how the Blueberry Oatmeal Shawl was born.

I am releasing this design earlier than planned because someone else was born at about the same time, Grandson number six! (Yup, still onlygrandsons!) Because of the early release, test knitting is not complete yet so if you find any errors please contact me!

This asymtric triangular shawl begins with 17 stitches and increases one stitch on each right side row after the first repeat of the German Herringbone stitch. While not identical on both sides, this stitch looks just a nice on the wrong side as it looks on the right side so it is completely reversible! Instructions are written and charted to accommodate different tastes. The patern is written for one size but suggestions are provided for modifying the size. This shawl used almost 2 entire skeins of Zen Serenity DK so if your gauge is different or you adjust your size you may need more (or less) yarn.
