It is possible to work all of the cables in this design without using a cable needle if you are comfortable with that technique. A video link is provided and is meant to be a general guide to this technique.

You will sometimes be working with a slightly different number of stitches than those used in the demonstration, but the technique is the same. Just pay attention to the number of stitches you are using and whether or not they are traveling cables that involve purl stitches.

Plus, the pattern is written placing the Cable Paw in the center front of the hat. If you prefer to have it slightly off-center, just adjust the number of stitches you work before and after the 27 stitch cable pattern
