Bodega Bay Stole
This elegant rectangular stole was inspired by the original movie advertisement posters for Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds (which is set on Bodega Bay) and the sophisticated costume designs of Edith Head. The stole features three different-sized, wing-shaped motifs, including a tail-wing-shaped scalloped edging. It is knit in two halves from each end, and then grafted in the middle. The lace patterning is elegant and simple, and because there is no shaping, it would be a great first lace project.
The pattern may be adjusted for length by working less repeats of any of the three lace motifs. Any fingering-weight yarn with a nice drape may be substituted, but choose something without too much halo, so the lace patterns will show to best advantage.
