Bold Striped Tabi Socks
Who doesn’t enjoy wearing flip-flops? If you are like me, I like wearing them year round! But let’s face it; there are some days when, as comfortable as flip-flops are, it is just a bit too cool for them. No problem, I say -- wear them with some colorful boldly striped socks! After all the Japanese have been wearing these “Tabi-Toed” socks since the 15th century! So why shouldn’t we? They are really nothing more than mittens for the foot, right? To make these socks, I used a self-striping yarn that has a long color repeat and I manipulated it, choosing to not work it as it comes off the skein but divide it into two smaller balls and work in alternating strips. You could, of course, make them straight off the skein and let the original stripes create the pattern…mmm…wonder what that would look like? Or, you could use your left over bits and pieces to create you own stripes. Who cares if they match – I sure don’t! So have fun making these socks and
even more fun wearing them!!!
