“Bolt is an asymmetric and shallow triangle shawl. It is a perfect lightweight companion for brisk spring days; it keeps you warm but is super light to carry lightly on your shoulders. The shawl is worked seamlessly in sequences of different stripes.” − Veera Välimäki
CONSTRUCTION
The shawl begins with a triangle worked from the tip to the wider edge, in a regularly-striped pattern. Stitches are then picked up along one diagonal edge of the triangle and worked in an irregularly striped pattern, using short rows to shape, and tapering gently towards the end of the shawl.
MATERIALS
Fingering weight wool yarn in the following approximate amounts:
305 yards of MC
305 yards of CC
Brooklyn Tweed Loft (100% American Targhee-Columbia wool; 275 yards / 50g): 2 skeins MC and 2 skeins CC
Photographed in Sweatshirt (MC) and Soot (CC)
Note that sample was made with exactly 1 skein each of MC and CC. If you wish to make the shawl using one skein each, work the 2-Row Stripe Section until you run out of CC, and work the Solid Section until you run out of MC. Your shawl may be a slightly different size if you choose to do this. If you have not matched gauge, your yarn requirements may vary.
