Bonner Mitts
The Bonner Mitts are a blend of luscious cables and rib with a gusseted thumb for comfort and an optional foldover cuff.
Pattern includes two versions:
Version I is a longer mitt with extra ribbing at the top that allows them to be worn folded down with a cuff or fully extended for added warmth. Version II is a shorter mitt with no foldover cuff that works up in just one skein.
YARN
Version I: Approximately 180 yards of worsted weight yarn 2 skeins mYak Medium (100% baby yak, 125 yds/50g)
Version II: Approximately 120 yards of worsted weight yarn 1 skein mYak Medium (100% baby yak, 125 yds/50g)
Version I shown in Desert; Version II shown in Burgundy
GAUGE
10 sts and 16 rnds = 2” in p2, k2 rib in the round Cable Chart measures 3 ½” wide at widest point
NEEDLES
One set of double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size needed to obtain gauge
Suggested size: US 4 (3.5 mm)
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge
TOOLS
Blunt tapestry needle, waste yarn for holding thumb stitches, unique stitch marker to indicate the begin-ning of the round and two additional markers for the thumb gusset, cable needle
FINISHED DIMENSIONS (after blocking)
Version I Full Length: 11” long
Version II Full Length: 8 ½“ long
Hand circumference: 7“ to fit 7–8” hand circumfer-ence
Thumb: 2 ¾” long from bottom of thumb gusset to bind off. Try the mitt on before you bind off to adjust length as needed.
