Bonnet & Mitts - on the Cover
The Bonnet and Mittens - On the Cover pattern features striking colourwork patterns on the deep cuff of the mittens and matching bonnet. A simple cross motif is worked on the hands of the mittens and the shaped back section of the bonnet. Colourwork hems are also worked for a delightful finishing touch to this festive looking set.
The bonnet is knitted in two flat pieces which are then sewn together - with the back of the bonnet shaped to ensure a neat fit around the back neck. The mittens are also knitted flat and seamed but could easily be knitted in the round if preferred.
Bonnet and Mittens - On the Cover is knitted using Excelana North fingering weight a soft, fingering weight 100% British wool, spun for us in nearby Yorkshire and dyed in-house by Susan and her team. Shown here in shades Persian Grey, Ruby Red and Nile Green.
The pattern includes instructions to fit Bonnet: Average ladies head
Mittens: Medium-Large ladies hand.
Instructions contain both clear written pattern directions, together with charted instructions for colour work instructions plus a schematic diagram and sizing chart.
Yarn kits are available at Susan Crawford Vintage.
