My grandma had a blanket full of girls in dresses. I didn’t care much for their hats but I always liked their dresses. I learned later that was a classic quilting block, and she was named after her hat / bonnet!

You will receive three files:

• interlocking crochet: written pattern, a one-page chart and a multi-page chart (165 x 193)
• overlay mosaic crochet: written pattern (original, 2020 dotted version), a one-page chart and a multi-page chart (165 x 193) marked with X’s
• NEW 2026 adjusted, solid overlay mosaic crochet: written pattern, a one-page chart and a multi-page chart (161 x 189) marked with X’s

The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.

Mosaic crochet is single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row. The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting). Interlocking Crochet
• Chart is 165 x 193
• Finished size 41” x 48” / 105cm x 123cm
• 4.5 mm hook (US7)
• Worsted weight yarn (2550 - 2700 yards total)
       o Main color (MC) (dark) – 1300 yards plus 150 for optional
border
       o Accent color (AC) (light) – 1250 yards
• Gauge: 8 (DC, ch) x 8 rows = 4”

Overlay Mosaic Crochet (Original 2020)
• Chart is 165 x 193
• Size without fringe or border: 46” x 50” / 117cm x 128cm
• 5 mm hook (H-8)
• Worsted weight yarn (2735 - 3335 yards total)
       o Main color (dark color) – 1360 yards
       o Contrasting color (light color) – 1370 yards
       o Optional envelope border – 600 yards
• Gauge: 14 stitches x 15 rows = 4”

Overlay Mosaic Crochet (Solid, Adjusted 2026)
• Chart 161 x 189
• Size without fringe or border: 46” x 50” / 117cm x 128cm
• 5 mm hook (H-8)
• Worsted weight yarn (2735 - 3335 yards total)
       o Main color (dark color) – 1360 yards
       o Contrasting color (light color) – 1370 yards
       o Optional envelope border – 600 yards
• Gauge: 14 stitches x 15 rows = 4”
