Gauge: 13 sts and 16 rows = 4”/10cm in stockinette stitch; 12 sts and 9 rounds = 4”/10cm in pattern stitch. Notes: Project begins with a crochet cast on which is joined to work in the round. If you need help with this cast on, check out the video at http://www.craftsy.com/technique/crochet-cast-on/407. Joining to work in the round is explained at http://www.craftsy.com/article/joining-knitting-in-the-round. Although any cast on will do for this project, the crochet cast on is used because it mimics a standard bind off.
