Bonnie Kate Cardigan
Bonnie Kate is part of the Knit Picks Independent Design Program.
This is a top-down design!
This cardigan was designed to be elegant and casual at the same time. In my mind I pictured standing on the sand overlooking the ocean, feeling the breeze ripple the knitted material. The drape of the Comfy yarn gives this design a gracefully flowing silhouette that will compliment jeans, slacks, skirts, and dresses equally well.
Make sure to always read through your pattern before you begin. This saves the frustration of working through an entire section only to then realize there’s a piece you missed marked “AT THE SAME TIME.” And be forewarned, there is one of these work “AT THE SAME TIME” sections during the working of the eyelet panel chart.
The Bonnie Kate cardigan has an a-line shape to it.
Increases are worked at regular intervals after the bust to create a gently swinging effect. This means that the circumference of the sweater will be approximately 4 (4, 4, 4.75, 4.75, 4.75, 5)” larger than at the bust. If you wish your garment to have a straighter silhouette do not work the increases during the Main Body instructions. Play with the length by adding or subtracting eyelet repeats. Each eyelet repeat adds approx. 2.25.”
