This hat features an element that can be slightly mystifying to novice lace knitters: a varying stitch count. Typically increases and decreases are paired in the same row to maintain your stitch count. But the forgiving nature of lace allows you to put off fixing an unbalanced pairing until later. In the Bonus Stitch Hat, you’ll feel like you have a bonus stitch, but don’t worry—Round 5 has a special stitch that brings everything back into balance.

Yarn Color: Riptide
Notions: Stitch Marker, Tapestry Needle
