These socks were designed for the Knitting Bees Basket Show in Kyoto, 2024.

When I think of Kyoto, I imagine retro cafés and old bookstores—these socks are inspired by a glasses-wearing bookseller who quietly drifts into a nostalgic café, as if they’ve always belonged there. These socks reflect that small story through cables reminiscent of books, frames, and classic textures.

Worked from the cuff down with a heel flap construction, this pattern is written for the magic loop method using circular needles.

Play with your own color combinations to bring out different moods and characters.

私にとって京都といえば喫茶店と本屋さん.
喫茶店にいつもやってくる気になる古本屋のメガネの店員さんの靴下.
本とメガネとケーブルニットをイメージしてデザインしました.
履き口から編みはじめ, かかとはヒールフラップで仕上げます.
