Boreal Forest Hat
The Boreal Forest Hat is the second pattern from Knitvent guest designer, Renée Callahan of EastLondonKnit. Designed as a companion to the Boreal Forest Cowl: together they make an indulgent set of gifts for a loved one (including yourself!). Inspired by rows of pine trees spread through a boreal woodland, this snug winter hat will keep your head warm even on a chilly evening stroll through the countryside. The simple-to-follow colourwork features smart geometric pine trees. The worsted weight yarn means that this piece works up quickly for experienced knitters, but even adventurous newer knitters should enjoy this project. Depending on your yarn choices, the Boreal Forest Hat can suit men or women, so it’s a wonderful project to fill a few spots on your gift list!

Join us for Knitvent and spoil yourself with six weeks of magical holiday knitting surprises!
Knitvent 2016 is all about the lush beauty of an Alpine forest. As I designed this year’s collection, I drew on all of the wonderful associations of a holiday hidden away in a peaceful mountain reach. The hush of snow settling on pine boughs, the blaze of a glowing sunset disappearing behind the peaks, and the luxurious warmth of basking by a crackling fire in your cosy ski lodge, all wrapped up and relaxed after an exhilarating day on the slopes.
Knitvent is now in its fourth year, and it has become a treasured holiday tradition for the whole Curious Handmade community. It’s a kind of Advent Calendar for knitters, ramping up the suspense in the weeks leading up to Christmas, with a new mystery design to discover every week. Each year we spend the season together in giddy anticipation, waiting for each week’s surprise pattern to be revealed and sharing the collective joy and expectancy of a mystery knitalong.
All the patterns in the collection have been designed to be perfect for gifting, but at least one is bound to have your name on it. After all that generous gift knitting, you deserve your own holiday treat!
The collection will feature six gorgeous accessory patterns.
The first pattern will be released on Thursday the 10th of November, and you’ll receive updates for the next five Thursdays when a new design is released.
To go along with the six weeks of patterns, there will be revelry, chat, support and prizes in the Curious Handmade Ravelry group. It’s always thrilling to be a part of the buzz, and it adds something a bit special to your holiday knitting experience.
