The inspiration for this minimalistic but elegant headband came to me on a windy day in late Autumn. It was a wind that blew in from the nearby snow-covered mountains and clearly announced the beginning of Winter.

In this year when working from home has become the norm, perhaps the same thing also happened to you, that you found space enough to set up your studio in a colder part of the house. For that reason, and despite wearing layers of clothing, on the cold days I missed having a light and cosy knitting that would keep my ears warm, without the need to cover my head completely. Of course, it had to be simple and quick to knit, but I wanted to feel beautiful too.

And so was born this Boreas headband, named after the Greek god of the cold North wind that brought the Winter.

SIZES
One size- woman but it’s adjustable.

YARN
Singles by LITLG (fingering weight; 100% merino; 366m 400 yds per 100g skein). Color: Beachgrass; 1 skein.
Superkid by Oso Blanco (lace weight; 70% mohair and 30% silk; 211m 231 yds per 25g skein). Color: White; 1 skein.

Or:
140m/ 153yds in fingering yarn.
115m/ 126yds in mohair lace yarn.

The headband is knitted with two strands of yarn, a fingering weight and a
lace weight held together. Please, notice that yardage might vary if length is modified.

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
3.50mm US 4 DPNs, short cable circular needles or longer cable circular needles for working Magic Loop.

Adjust needles size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge after blocking.

25 sts and 32 rnds = 10cm 4” in stockinette stitch, after blocking.

La inspiración para esta diadema minimalista, pero elegante al mismo tiempo, me llegó en un día de mucho viento de finales de otoño. Era un viento helado que venía de las montañas nevadas cercanas y que claramente anunciaba la llegada del invierno.

En este año en el que el teletrabajo se ha convertido en lo normal, quizás te ha ocurrido lo mismo que a mí, que encontraste sitio para ubicar tu estudio en una zona fría de la casa. Por esa razón y a pesar de usar capas de ropa tejida con pura lana, en los días más fríos echaba de menos el tener algo ligero y cómodo, con lo que mantener mis orejas y la cabeza calentitas, pero sin necesidad de cubrirla por completo. Por supuesto, tenía que ser rápido y sencillo de tejer, con un resultado que me encantase y me hiciera sentir bien y guapa.

Y así nació la diadema Boreas, llamada de esta forma en honor al dios griego del viento frío del norte, que traía el invierno.

La diadema se teje con los dos hilos juntos, sujetos como si fuesen una única hebra. Por favor, ten en cuenta que la cantidad de hilo usada puede variar en función de tu tensión o si modificas la longitud de la diadema.

3.50mm US 4 agujas de doble punta o agujas de cable circular corto o largo, éste último usando la técnica del Magic Loop.
