In the French formal garden, a bosquet is a formal plantation of trees, at least five of identical species planted in strict regularity as to rank and file, so that the trunks line up as one passes along either face.

Bosquet is the result of a design challenge I set for myself. I set out to see how I could use construction methods to make an interesting design using the simplest of lace motifs - leaves and stripes. This pattern consists of 2 variations, a 1 panel stole that is knit on the bias, and a 4 panel stole that begins with a central square, worked in the round. The long sides are then worked over half the stitches, with decreases on the outer edges, and increases down the center spine.

Yarn: 1,100 yards Artyarns Ensemble Light (3 skeins). Although this yarn is classified as DK, it behaves more like a fingering weight.
Gauge: 18 sts and 28 rows = 4” (10cm) in stockinette, after blocking
