This model draws its name from the renowned Bramante staircase, a stunning architectural marvel located in the Vatican Museums.
Designed by the Italian architect Donato Bramante in the early 16th century, the staircase features a double helix structure that elegantly spirals upward, much like the twisting stitch pattern of these socks.
These socks are knit from the cuff down with a traveling stitch pattern for the leg and a simple motif pattern for the foot. There is a left leg pattern and a right leg pattern so that the design swirls in opposite directions. For the sample I chose to work from the inside of the ball for one leg and the outside of the ball for the other leg.

YARN
BISCOTTE YARNS - BIS-SOCK MINI-METAMORPH 85% merino, 15% nylon; 2x 50g; 200 meters per 50 grams skein - shown in Soft Saffron.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
Circular needles of 2.5 mm (US 1.5) - cable lenght of 80cm (32’’) for magic loop - or size required to obtain the gauge.
Tapestry needle.
Stitch markers.
