Brandon Peak Mittens
The Brandon Peak mittens are a simple, elegant mitten pattern that can be worked up in 4 different yarn weights. They can be made as either a fingerless mitten or a full hand mitten.
So whether you want to match a mitten to a feature hat or scarf you already knitted, or wish to stash bust and use up left over yarn, these mittens should be just the project.
Sizes
Mittens are for hand circumference 13.5 (15, 17, 19, 21, 23) cm/ 5 1/4, 5 3/4, 6, 6 3/4, 7 1/2, 8 1/4, 9) inches, to fit from toddler to large mens size.
Pattern includes schematic, and details on achieving a perfect fit.
Yarns:
The pattern is written for 4 yarn weights, fingering, double knit, worsted/Aran weight and chunky/bulky. Please note that stitch counts are NOT provided for the small child sizes for the full range of yarns. The small child sizes can still be worked in either fingering or DK yarns. Tween to adult sizes can be worked to any of the 4 yarn weights.
One pair of adults size full mittens uses 70 meters of chunky yarn.
Recommended needles: circular needles or DPN, in 3mm, 4mm, 5mm or 7mm, relevant to yarn used.
Construction:
Mittens are worked from the top down to the cuff, which makes it easy to get a perfect custom fit.
Gauge:
4 gauges are given, with options to select the most appropriate for the yarn you wish to use.
Yarn group 1/ fingering: 28 stitches = 10cm/4inches
Yarn group 3/double knit: 22 stitches = 10cm/4inches
Yarn group 4/Aran: 18 stitches = 10cm/4inches
Yarn group 5/chunky: 13 stitches = 10cm/4inches
Accessibility:
This is an easy read pattern. It used the British Dyslexia Association standards, and larger font and clear layout to facilitate low vision.
