Breanne hat
Breanne is a hat featuring a colour work band, in three sizes.
The design is worked seamlessly from crown to band in the round.
Use two complimentary colours for a subtle look or two contrasting colours for a bold statement.
Designed to be worn with or without slouch.
Pattern includes length adjustments for a more fitted beanie
Approximate finished circumference (will stretch to fit 2-5cm/1-2inches larger)
M 44.5cm/17.5 inches
L 53cm/21 inches
XL 61cm/24 inches
Length as written
Beanie 20 23 cm/8 9 inches
Slouch 23 25 cm/9 10 inches
Yarn required: Approximately 2/3rds CA and 1/3rd CB
100-120 metres (110-130 yards) CA and 50-60 metres (55-65 yards) CB depending on size made
To work the hat with approximately equal quantities of two colours, continue with CB after the colour work band is complete
Note: gauge is measured in colour work pattern, please ensure you work in the round
The largest needle size is for the colour work section, only if you find you work colour work tighter than your regular knit stitch
Beginning of round stitch marker, extra stitch markers if you like to mark chart repeats around your hat
There are a number of cast ons designed specifically for starting in the round - knit on, magic circle (this one uses a crochet hook) and belly button (which is a type of provisional cast on).
Knit on and belly button both mimic the way the thread is drawn through the remaining stitches when you knit from the band up to the crown.
There is no reason to not use a regular knit on or backwards loop cast on and threading your tail through the beginning to close the hole.
Pattern has been successfully test knit
