Bridge City Set
When I designed this set, I was living in Saskatoon, which is nicknamed the “Bridge City,” so this set takes its inspiration from the many bridges spanning the Saskatchewan River; and when I think of bridges, I think of the 1920s and Art Deco, so it’s also got an early 20th century ambience. The cloche is designed to be worn low and at a bit of an angle, with the upturned brim giving it a jaunty feel. The unique construction of the scarf not only gives you a place to stick your hands to warm them up, but when wrapped around the neck twice, offers extra design intrigue.
SIZE: Scarf length 80 inches around, hat circumference 22 inches with positive ease.
WOOL: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick (82% acrylic, 10% wool, 8% rayon; 106 yd/97 m per 170g skein). Colour: Grey Marble, 3 skeins required.
GAUGE: 7 sts / 13 row = 4” in stockinette, and 10 sts / 15 rows = 4” in pattern stitch.
NEEDLES: 1 set of 10 mm double-pointed needles and 1 24-inch 10 mm circular needle.
NOTES: Cloche: Rows 1 to 5 are worked flat, and then cloche is joined to be knit in the round. Scarf: Scarf is worked flat and then sewn or crocheted together.
