My aim was to create a sweater that would be amendable to both hand spun and commercial yarns. Hand spun will give the plain stockinette stitch more texture and character where the commercial yarns will be more streamlined. The cable is a large “high-relief” cable* so even if the hand-spun yarn does not have a lot of twist/consistency, the stitch definition will still be clear and prominent.

The sweater is constructed from the top down. This allows you to try on the sweater as you go so that bust shaping and waist shaping line up on your body correctly. It also allows for the cable to start right at the V of the neck.

Brielle is a close fitting, flattering sweater. It is easy to knit and has just a touch of flare with the front cable and side-seam shaping. The side ribbing allows for give if you have a straighter build and curve if that suits your body better. Wear it stand alone or over a silky button down, with a skirt or jeans, it is versatile and fun!
