Brightlingsea is a tubular scarf knit in the round. It features stranded colourwork at each end. In order to preserve the shape of the motifs, each end of the scarf begins with a Provisional Cast On and is knit to the middle. In this pattern, the End of Round is placed at the centre back of the scarf. The two ends are neatly joined with an invisible graft worked in in the middle of the scarf. To finish the scarf, the Provisional Cast On from either end is neatly closed with a Three Needle Bind Off.

This pattern includes

  • Printable colouring-in templates to aid you in recolouring the design
  • Turorial notes showing how colouring-in was used to aid the design process for the sample shown in the eBook

Brightlingsea is published with inspiring notes and printable worksheets to colour-in as an aid to deciding which yarn shades to use. The creative process behind the design is offered alongside the pattern instructions to enable and encourage you to adapt this design for celebrating your own special memories, should you so wish. If you have never recoloured a stranded colourwork design to reflect your own special memories, Brightlingsea offers a really inviting and accessible starting point.

This is the first of four designs published in the forthcoming eBook KNITSONIK & Friends: Colour to Knit. First published on May 1st in the KNITSONIK & Friends Colour to Knit Club this project is the first from the eBook that will be available for purchase to non club-members from August 2022.
