Brigid Cardigan
The Old Irish goddess of Spring and fertility, Brigid was invoked on the holy day of Imbolc to ensure the end of Winter and offer protection to homes and livestock. The evening before, clothing was laid outside to be blessed by the wandering goddess with powers of healing and protection.
The Brigid Cardigan is worked from the bottom up, with a saddle shoulder and a generous button band that extends into a shawl collar. The saddle shoulder allows the antler cabling along the sleeves to extend all the way to the collar.
This pattern is fully charted.
The Notes section of the pattern is extensive: there’s a lot to explain about how the pattern works! If you’re having problems with the charts (especially for the honeycomb panels) or the shaping, please check the Notes section to see if the information there answers your question.
Errata:
As of 3/13/2017, there is a new version of the pattern out (with some corrections to text as well as charts). Please make sure you have the most recent version of the pattern.
