Enjoy -50% off of this pattern!
Introductory offer until my next sweater pattern!**
I love to combine my favorite techniques together into a single project for a super engaging knit that is very hard to put down. Have you given brioche stitch knitting a try yet? Take your knitting needles and start your adventure for making your new favorite summer or even, all-the-seasons sweater. I’m super happy with it and hope you enjoy knitting it as much as I did. The pattern is knit seamlessly in the round for easy enjoyable knitting.
The simple construction lends itself to relaxing knitting, perfect for your first brioche sweater adventure! Two-color brioche work keeps this design fun and flying off your needles.
It looks fabulous with jeans, skirts and layering over dresses. (This sweater’s cropped and loose fit allows it to be perfect for layering, but can be easily adjusted to longer lengths). It’s the perfect sweater for every day of the week!*
CONSTRUCTION
BriocheRings is a comfortable and relaxed sweater, worked seamlessy from the top down, with a circular yoke, alternating bands of two-color brioche stitch and stockinette stitch from collar to hem and requires minimal finishing.
Starting at the neckline, short rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck and then the deep yoke is worked down to the sleeve separation. The sleeve stitches are then placed on hold, underarm stitches are cast on and the rest of the body is worked. The little puffy sleeves are also worked top down to the cuffs.
BriocheRings is perfect for your knit night or for a spot of TV knitting. The sweater is designed to fit with a lots of positive ease. If you want your sweater to have a closer fit, you can knit a smaller size. Adjust the length of the sleeves and the body easily to fit your personal style (perfect try-on-as-youknit sweater).
Knitted top down it is easy to adjust the length of the body and sleeves to match your preference. (there are options for either long or short sleeves included in the pattern; make sure you check the suggested yardage for the version you prefer, as the long sleeve version will require more yarn. The body length is easily customizable, but changing it will also affect the yardage, so please keep that in mind).

GAUGE
Body: 21 stitches and 26 rounds = 10cm / 4 inches in stockinette St and with two-color brioche stitch in the round, with 3.00 (US 2 ½) needles for brioche stitch and 3.50mm (US 4) for stockinette stitch, after blocking.
Note: You may need to go up a needle size larger for stockinette stitch than your two-color brioche stitch needle to get correct gauge, like I did.
Swatch both – two-color brioche stitch and stockinette stitch. You should always knit your swatch the same way that the pattern is knit. In this case - in the round. Block your swatch as you will your finished garment and allow it to dry fully before measuring. Take time to save time and always use the needle size necessary to achieve given gauge (match the tension). My personal brioche stitch tension is much looser than stockinette stitch.
NEEDLES
Needle sizes noted are suggestions only.
Neck ribbing needles: 2.50mm (US 1 ½ ) 40cm / 16“ circular needle or DPNs (or longer circular needles if you prefer the magic loop method).
Two-color brioche stitch needles: 3.00mm (US 2 ½)
60cm / 24“ - 100cm / 40“ long circular needle or matching set DPNs (or longer circular needle for magic loop) for twocolor brioche stitch working body and sleeves.
I went down a needle size for the brioche stitch section, because two-color brioche is very stretchy.
Stockinette Stitch needles: 3.50mm (US 4) 60cm / 24“ - 100cm / 40“ long circular needle or DPNs (or longer circular needles if you prefer the magic loop method) for body and sleeves.
