This cowl is worked flat in a textured stitch pattern consisting of just knits and purls. A crocheted edging in a contrasting color and weight of yarn is then applied, with one short edge having crocheted button loops applied. Four buttons are sewn on the opposite short side to form the tube of the cowl and to add interest. Feel free to substitute a different crochet edge! The one in the pattern is a simple understated edge, but a larger, more frilly edge would be lovely as well.
