Broken Hill Shawl
This traditional triangular shawl is made with a combination of closed and open stitches which adds interest and is great for crocheters who get bored with simpler patterns. It is made on a larger hook than usually recommended for the yarn to make it lacier.
You can use whatever yarn you desire, with a hook a couple of sizes larger than recommended, to make your own version of this shawl.
The pattern is written in three parts: A, B and C, and the repeating sequence is A, B, A, C. Repeat this sequence to achieve the size you desire. My sample is (A, B, A, C) x 2, then A, B, A, which I think gives a neat edge to the shawl. I then worked sc evenly along the straight edge to finish it off.
Gauge is not important for this pattern. I would suggest that this pattern would suit intermediate crocheters.
