Bub the Bird
Bub the Bird is a plump, cheerful little friend, a round six inch bird that sits happily in a child’s hands.
Two variations for the tail and wings let you give each Bub its own look, so no two have to be alike.
Bub is a rewarding intermediate knit.
He is worked in the round with some seaming, shaped with increases and decreases, and finished with a bit of i-cord, a satisfying set of techniques on a project that stays quick.
The two wing and tail options make him a fun one to knit more than once, changing colors and details each time.
Worked in worsted weight wool, he takes only about 100 yards.
Skill level is intermediate. If you are comfortable knitting in the round and working simple i-cord, Bub is a great next toy.
For a child, the result is a sturdy, huggable bird with a friendly round shape made to be carried, squeezed, and kept.
Designed by Julie Anderson of The Byrd’s Nest, drawing on a Master’s in early childhood special education and more than 17 years of designing toys made to be loved.
