“The pattern reminds me of water bubbles” was my sister’s reply to seeing this bag throughout the design process. So I kept the “bubbles” for the name of this pattern.
The simple stitches used for this design make it ideal for raffia yarn and that authentic beach bag feel. But cotton yarn works just as well. And of course this bag is not just for the beach. It makes a great market tote or a shoulder bag for a stroll around town.

The pattern contains written instructions along with a photo tutorial to make it beginner friendly and easy to follow.

Skill Level
Confident Beginner

Skills Required
A knowledge of basic stitches: single crochet, slip stitch
Crocheting in rows and in the round

Hook
5mm or size recommended on the sleeve of the yarn. I used 4mm for the raffia bag, 5mm for the cotton bag

Yarn
Raffia or Aran/medium/4 weight cotton

Other Materials
Scissors, darning needle, 5 stitch markers, leather straps for the handles (optional)

As with all my patterns this design has been pattern tested, so you can follow the instructions with confidence. Pick your yarn and hook and enjoy creating this beautiful bag for your next trip to the beach or the market. While you’re at it, why not make one as a gift too. Happy Crocheting!
