The Budapest hat is a simple and minimalistic piece worked from the bottom up to the crown seamlessly. It features decorative and clever double decreases, which makes the hat totally reversible. It’s definitely your next cold-weather wardrobe staple. As usual, video tutorials will help you throughout the pattern mastering all special techniques.

Pattern includes instructions for the scrappy version too:-)

Sizing information
1 (2, 3)

Finished hat measurements
Circumference: 34.25 (40, 45.75) cm / 13.75 (16, 18.25)” (meas unstretched).
Length: adjustable

This ribbed hat should wear with about 15-18 cm / 6-7” negative ease to allow a comfortably snug fit. To select best size, meas around wearer’s forehead and subtract desired amount of negative ease, then pick the finished hat circumference closest to that number. Suggested finished hat length is about 2.5-3.75 cm / 1-1.5” longer than actual head depth, which is meas from bottom of the ear to top of the head.

Samples in pictures shown in size 2 with a 23.75 cm / 9.5” finished hat length.

Yarn / Yardage
Yardage is calculated for working a hat with a max of 23.75 cm / 9.5” finished length and includes 15% of extra yarn. Please note that size and yardage will be affected when making any adjustments on the hat.
• 2 skeins of Lana Grossa Country Tweed yarn,
in 012 Antique pink mottled colourway, 100% virgin wool, approx 50 g / 1.76 oz / 90 m / 98 yds per skein;
or approx 137 (156, 173) m / 150 (171, 190) yds of heavy worsted weight yarn that gives you gauge.

Gauge
28 sts and 33 rnds over 1x1 Ribbing = 10 cm / 4”.
Gauge swatch worked on size 4 mm / US 6 circ ndls, in the rnd. Measurements taken from an unstretched 1x1 ribbed fabric, after blocking.

Needles
• 3.75 mm / US 5 circ ndls or one size thinner than your
gauge-size ndls for the Long-tail Tubular Cast-On.
• 4 mm / US 6 circ ndls for the hat or size needed to
obtain gauge. Sample made using 80 cm / 32” long circ ndls, however choose the length according to your preference.

Notions
• 5 removable stitch markers (one of them in a different colour or style from the others for marking the BOR)
